The quality of provision in the Foundation Stage is very strong.

Honeycomb is led and managed by Penny who graduated with an Honours Degree in Education in 1985. She specialised in the Early Years of Child Development and taught Reception and Year 1 classes for six years (three in Hertfordshire, three in Somerset). In 2005 Penny updated her qualifications to include a Post Graduate Diploma in Early Years and in 2010 gained Early Years Professional Status. Honeycomb’s provision is inclusive and responsive to pupils’ individual needs (Assessments & Planning). 

A second member of staff has a Degree in Education and Psychology and a third member of staff has a Foundation Degree in Early Years. All members of staff have completed a wide range of training in Child Development in the Early Years; Every Child a Talker; Behaviour Management and Strategies; EAL; Supporting Learning Difficulties in Maths; Observation and Planning; STC and Forest School. 

All members of staff regularly attend courses to further their own learning.

Staff draw on information from parents and if relevant, health visitors/paediatricians before coming to nursery.
